Brian Mattson, Ph.D

Executive Vice President, Business Development and Strategy

Dr. Mattson joined Northpointe Inc. in 2007 to oversee the company’s consulting services division. Promoted to President and General Manager in 2011, he leads the company in crafting approaches that advance the field through partnership and innovation.

Dr. Mattson initiated and successfully led the recent acquisition of Northpointe to expand its positioning and offerings nationally. His direction of Northpointe’s client base growth and services-approach to complement software solutions has positioned the company with an industryleading, scientific decision support platform across criminal justice agencies.

Dr. Mattson promotes a vision where practice, research and policy inform systemic justice approaches.

Dave Wells

Founder, President and General Manager

In 1989, Mr. Wells founded the Northpointe Institute for Public Management (newly named Northpointe Inc.) and has provided inmate classification training to more than 450 jails and risk and needs assessment training and 80 probation and community corrections agencies in the United States.

Mr. Wells is the key author and designer of the nationally recognized Jail Inmate Classification System (JICS) Decision Tree system. He is also a co-developer of the Company’s COMPAS Risk and Needs Assessment system and software suite.
